This exquisite heirloom quality Jewelry Box is made of Sapele, which is an exotic African Wood used by Cadillac on their high end autos. It features a Maple panel with a Butterfly inlaid with Turquoise,Coral,and Jet. The other side of that panel has the word MOM inlaid with Turquoise. The letters measure approximately 1 1/4". The interior, including the three lift out trays, is made of Maple. The bottom of the box, and the trays, is lined with a rich burgundy velvet. This Jewelry Box is a gift your Mom will cherish and pass on to future generations. It's dimensions are: 10 1/4" X 6 3/8" X 3 3/8". This piece is hand signed by the artist and has the patent number of the hinge system on the underside of the box.

ABOUT THE HINGE

There is more to this box than immediately meets the eye. The unique patented hinge system allows the cleat on the underside of the lid to engage a groove cut in the inside of the front member of the box. The box, once it is closed cannot be opened until the back of the lid is lifted and it is then pulled away from the front. To close the lid one merely lets the lid fall forward and then slides it forward until it closes.
