This is a 7"x5" Mermaid trinket box. The Maple trinket box is dyed blue - and with an inlaid Mermaid on the lid. The sky is cherry, the sun and her hair are Padauk, the rocks are Walnut, her skin is Maple, and her tail is Poplar.

The entire box was made by hand (well, ok, I use power tools, but no computers) and the inlay was cut by hand using a scroll-saw. The lid is attached with brass hinges, mortised into the sides for a smooth, evenly-closing lid. The finish is polyurethane, rubbed out to a smooth satin feel.
