This is a large Humidor made out of Wormy Chestnut. Wormy Chestnut is my best selling wood because there are no more American Chestnut trees alive. The front and back edges are banded with MACASSAR EBONY (Diospyros celebica), which is one of a group of ebonies from the East Indies, ranging from Sri Lanka to Indonesia. This close- grained, heavy hardwood machines and turns well, but tends to dull tools and is difficult to glue. Used for turned and carved items, inlays, and contemporary furniture. Ebony is so expensive, it is sold by the pound. The American Chestnut was killed by a blight that was introduced into the United States in the 17th Century by some plants infected with the blight brought in from Japan. By the mid 1930's there were not many trees left. The only way to get any Wormy Chestnut timber is to find an old barn or some type building and salvage what you can. The going price of Wormy Chestnut is around $12.00 dollars a board foot, as is, nails and all. By the time I tear down a building, dress the lumber, my yield is about 40% usable wood. That is not counting all the saw blades and planner blades I lose due to hidden nails. The cost of Wormy Chestnut at this point is probably around $30.00 dollars or more per board foot as best as I can figure. This is a unique "One-of-a-Kind Humidor" signed and dated. Airtight lid will not "bang" when closed. All my Humidors get 6 to 8 coats of polyurethane oil finish that is "Hand Rubbed" to give them the best finish possible. Humidor is completely lined with Spanish cedar. Dividers slide in grooves to make size adjustments easy and secure. Only first quality, solid brass hinges are used. This is a large humidor and has a full lift out tray with storage below the tray. This Humidor will hold approximately 30 to 40 cigars. This Humidor will become a family heirloom to be passed on from generation to generation hopefully. Comes complete with a custom Humidifier and Hygrometer and a five page manual that covers how to set-up and care of your new Humidor.
Size is approx. 8 x 12 x 8 inches

Every item is made one at a time. The craftsmanship is more important than the cost..... what you buy today reflects your appreciation of quality and value for a life time.
Every Humidor that I build is built one at a time by me. There is no other person to build, sand, finish or ship but me. I control the Quality from selecting the wood to shipping. Something that I am very proud of. Every Humidor is made from selected solid stock, I use very little veneer and state so if I do. Every color you see is natural, I use no stains or dyes. This is what you will get if you own one of my Humidors.

Every thing I make gets a "Hand Rubbed Oil Finish". Between 5 to 8 coats. This is a blend of five oils that provides the best finish possible. The finish was developed for the marine environment. The base is polyurethane. This is the same finish I use on my fine Antiques. I developed the finish while I was Quality Assurance Manager with Hatteras Yachts. That was between 1965 to 1988."
