This is a custom made Keepsake box is made from Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) is one of the most valuable timber species in California, with 899,000 acres (364,000 ha) of redwood forest, all second growth, managed for timber production. Coast Redwood lumber is highly valued for its beauty, light weight, and resistance to decay. Its lack of resin makes it resistant to fire. Because of its impressive resistance to decay, redwood was extensively used for railroad ties and trestles throughout California. Many of the old ties have been recycled for use in gardens as borders, steps, etc. Redwood burls are used in the production of table tops, veneers, and turned goods. The top is made from Redwood burl Veneer which is very rare. A unique "One-of-a-Kind" box signed and dated. Each Keepsake Box is custom built, one at a time by me. Most people love boxes and I collect boxes myself and now have over 35 in my collection. I even have the old cigar boxes from my childhood. I spend a lot of time choosing just the right woods to complement each other. Most are Exotic woods and none are on any endangered list. I use only solid stock; there is no veneer in any of these boxes, unless specified. All of the woods are their natural color; I use no dyes or stains. Everything I make gets a "Hand Rubbed Oil Finish”, usually three to five coats. This is a blend of five oils that provides the best finish possible. The finish was developed for the marine environment. The base is polyurethane.
Size is approx. 5 x 8 x 3 inches.

Charles T. says; "No matter if you are buying an $800.00 dollar Humidor or a $29.00 dollar Keepsake Box, all are built to the same Quality Standards. I am an Antique Dealer. I buy, repair and sale High-end Antiques. I am a "one man shop", and as such, can control the Quality of every thing that comes out of my shop. About six years ago I made my first Humidor for a friend. He wound up with four. By word of mouth I was soon covered up with orders. I started doing High-end Arts/Crafts show as a way to market my product. I added Jewelry Boxes and various other types of keepsake boxes. I make custom Pens, Perfume Pens, Magnifying glasses, wooden Business Card Holders, Letter openers, Atomizers and some small wood turnings. I do about twenty shows a year. About 75% of my work is custom orders.
Every thing I make gets a "Hand Rubbed Oil Finish". Between 5 to 8 coats. This is a blend of five oils that provides the best finish possible. The finish was developed for the marine environment. The base is polyurethane. This is the same finish I use on my fine Antiques. I developed the finish while I was Quality Assurance Manager with Hatteras Yachts. That was between 1965 to 1988."
