We use the highest quality lazy susan mechanisms available and they are recessed into the base of the unit to provide a low profile, ask our competitors if they recess their mechanisms......It's just one extra step that we take to make a beautiful, functional product. These are just awesome turntables, each and every one of them. We use one lazy Susan on our dinning room table. Even our kids love to take food off of the lazy Susan turntable!
