This custom “One of a Kind” Jewelry Chest is made from Birdseye Maple. this wood has the most pronounced “eyes” that I have seen in a long time. Birdseye Maple is getting very hard to find due to the fact that most logs go to the veneer mill and finding quality Birdseye lumber is getting harder and harder to find and is now one of the most expensive domestic wood there is. This is one of my favorite woods, but it’s very hard to work with, you need very sharp tools and sanding has to be perfect or sanding marks will shop. The end results are well worth it. This Birdseye Maple has a lot of “eyes”, the most I have seen lately in Birdseye Maple, beautiful. The joiner work is "Double box joints" which is very strong and very attractive. There is plenty of room in this Jewelry Chest. Full top tray and below this tray, there are two full trays and storage below them. Removable dividers make arranging compartment easy to hold small to large pieces of Jewelry. Bottom of Chest and all trays are lined with real velvet. All the wood used to make the trays and dividers are natural in colour and consist of Pau Amarillo, Paduak. Holly, Cocobolo, Walnut and Mahogany. A unique "One-of-a-Kind Jewelry Chest" signed and dated. Each Keepsake Box gets 6 to 8 coats of polyurethane oil finish that is "Hand Rubbed" to give them the best finish possible. This Keepsake Chest will become a family heirloom to be passed on to generation to generation.
