This Lazy Susan is 15" in diameter and is constructed from 189 individual wood diamonds. The finishing band around the Lazy Susan is a single piece of walnut, which is steamed and bent to fit the lazy susan. The finish is a durable high gloss bar and tabletop finish which will stand up to many years of use.
This beautiful lazy Susan is created using 5 different species of wood. Each piece of wood is individually cut, routed and placed in the pattern that you see.
The inner design is made from Tulipwood, a wood native to Brazil. This gorgeous 'red' wood has dark brown grain that is eye catching and changes in appearance when the table is rotated, causing the wood to have golden highlights.
The lightest wood used is Curly Maple. Unique to this wood are fibers that are distorted when light hits the wood causing an undulating appearance. Prized for it's beautiful appearance, Curly Maple is used in the making of fine furniture and is native to the United States.
The next band is Leopardwood, a native wood to South America. It has characteristic 'spots' that refract light and cause the spots to "shift" when viewed from different angles.
The darkest wood is a beautiful Walnut, native to the United States. The wood has a velvety shimmer in the light and has depth to the grain pattern. The outer wood is White Oak, native to the United States. The straight grain of this wood balances out the grains of the other woods to complement them and cause a dimensional effect of looking into the inside of a large cube.
